Luxury on the Beach at the Lago Mar Resort and Club

For over fifty years, the Lago Mar Resort and Club has been the hallmark of Florida beach hotels and resorts. Perfectly situated on ocean-front property in Fort Lauderdale, the story of the Lago Mar, owned by the Banks Family, begins in 1959 when Mr. Sidney Banks of Virginia purchased the Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel which had 110 rooms, a hefty amount for the time. Since then, Mr. Banks has worked frivolously to create the family-friendly and luxurious atmosphere that is the reason for its consistent AAA Four Diamond rating. Today, the resort is owned and presided by Mr. Sidney Banks’ son, Mr. Walter Banks. To continue on the family legacy Walter Banks naturally followed in his father’s footsteps of creating the most luxurious resort in south Florida. Throughout the 80’s and 90’s, Mr. Banks went about removing old and decaying buildings from the premises and replacing them with new and beautiful buildings as well as expanding the boundaries of the resort as well.
